To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a book based in America that tells the story of an African American charged with the rape of a white girl. This book is from the perspective of the defendant lawyer's young daughter called Jean Louise Finch, nicknamed Scout. This book is the perfect example of what reality was like in the 1930's for African Americans who were classified as second classed humans. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is an example of where a male African American is accused for raping when he didn't do it. At the end, he was found guilty even though everyone in the courtroom clearly knows that he is innocent. This shows the struggles of an African American man experiencing the unfair rights and freedom during the 1930's.

This is a cartoon hand drawn by Australian-born Asian artist Jack Ng. This utilises visual technique of colouring, highlighting the idea of racism and inequality. Through the use of speech bubbles, the audience is able to tell that humorous side of the cartoon because it is unreal and fake. The use of black and white is to also show the relationship with black and white people.
